TC “Capture the Future”
From March 28 to April 4, our Estonian team took part in the Erasmus+ project “Capture the Future,” which took place in Lithuania.
We stayed in a cozy campus near Vilnius, right in the middle of the forest - the place was truly magical!
The project brought together participants from Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The main theme was photography - we learned how it can be used in a professional career and how to tell important social stories through photos, especially the ones that matter to young people today.
At the end of the project, we had a final challenge: to express a meaningful social issue through photography. This made us think deeply about the problems that truly affect us and taught us how creativity can be a powerful way to raise awareness. Also, together we created a guide on the basics of photography.
Each day was packed with activities: team challenges, trust-building games, self-reflection, creative exercises and so much more. We were constantly stepping out of our comfort zones, getting to know ourselves and others better, making new friends and enjoying the warm and open atmosphere.
Our Estonian team also prepared a cultural evening - we shared facts about Estonia, helped everyone try reading some Estonian words, taught the traditional Kaera-Jaan dance, and offered traditional Estonian foods like sprat sandwiches, kama, and sweets - everyone loved them!
We also visited a Lithuanian school where we led photography workshops - covering posing, emotion and technical aspects. The students were really interested, and we loved being able to share what we had learned.
This project gave us not only new knowledge, but also a huge range of emotions. We discovered so many new things, tried ourselves in roles like teachers and photographers, developed important skills and uncovered new sides of ourselves. It was a warm, inspiring experience that we’ll never forget. And if we ever get the chance to do something like this again - we’d say yes in a heartbeat!
